Norma Baumel Joseph

Dr. Norma Baumel Joseph is a scholar and activist who confronts many of the most compelling issues facing Orthodox Jews and the rest of the Jewish community.  In addition to her widely-published articles, she is known as a founder of Women of the Kotel, fighting for equal rights for women to pray at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, and a founder and President of the International Committee for Agunah Rights, which seeks to secure Jewish women’s rights in religious divorces.  She was also featured in two films, “Half the Kingdom” (1989) and “Untying the Bonds… Jewish Divorce” (1997).  She has been honored with numerous awards in the international Jewish community.
