Dr. Miriam Isaacs

Dr. Miriam Isaacs is Retired Visiting Associate Professor of Yiddish Language and Culture, University of Maryland College Park. She received her Ph.D. from Cornell University. She formerly held the 'Life Reborn' Fellowship for the study of Displaced Persons at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Dr. Isaacs specializes in Yiddish language and culture, and sociolinguistics, and she continues her scholarship on Yiddish language among Hasidic Jews. Her teaching includes basic Yiddish language and literature in the original and in translation, as well as courses on Yiddish theater and film, fantasy and the supernatural in Yiddish literature and on Holocaust and post-Holocaust literature.

From 2011-2013, Dr. Isaacs was a Fellow at the Holocaust Museum for the study of Displaced Persons.
