Jack Kugelmass is Professor of Anthropology and the Sam Melton Professor and Director of the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Florida.

Lecture Topics:

  1. "Writing the Jewish Nation" - 1920s work of the "greatest of the modern Jewish travelers," the Jewish Poland during the Polish Republic's early years.
  2. 'On the Battlefields of Spain: - Yiddish writers return to Spain before and during its civil war.
  3. "Through the Jungles and Across the Mountains" - A Buenos Aires Yiddish writer visits Peru's highlands to see "primitive" tribes and civilized communities.
  4. "Sifting the Ruins" Émigré Yiddish (and Hebrew) journalists return to Poland to write about who and what survived, and the possibilities of a Jewish future in postwar Poland.

Cost includes one night's lodging, four kosher meals, all gratuities, and four lectures.
