Visit historic Richmond, VA, seat of the government of the Confederacy. We will tour Beth Ahabah Congregation's 1904 synagogue and their excellent museum, visit the Hebrew Soldiers Cemetery and the Museum of the Confederacy, and have a tour of the White House of the Confederacy. We will also pass by the State Capitol Building designed by Thomas Jefferson, and observe the statues and tributes along Monument Drive. The bus ride, leaving from Ohr Kodesh Congregation in Chevy Chase,  is part of the experience, with a talk by Joshua Furman, Ph.D. candidate in Modern Jewish History on the trip down to Richmond, and a Civil War film on the return trip.
