This trip is co-sponsored by the Sisterhood of Adas Israel Congregation in the District of Columbia. Our trip is scheduled for Sunday, April 28, 2013, and is part of the Foundation's Jewish Learning on Wheels program.

Trip Details:

  • Date: Sunday, April 28, 2013.
  • Cost: $100 per person which includes bus, admission fee, and docent led tour.
  • Bus Pick-up – Two Locations: Either 8:15 am at Adas Israel Congregation’s parking lot: 2850 Quebec St., NW, Washington, DC, OR 8:45 am at Ohr Kodesh Congregation: 8300 Meadowbrook Lane, Chevy Chase, MD. Please arrive at your pick-up location no later than 15 minutes before the departure time. We expect to return between 6:30 and 7:00 pm. The synagogues have given us permission to park cars in their lots for the day. Please be sure to indicate your pick up location when you register for the program.
  • Food: Please plan to bring your own lunch or you may purchase food at the food court of The Bourse, next door to the NMAJH. We will eat lunch before our scheduled museum tour.
  • Cancellation Policy: Cancellations after April 1st will be charged the full amount unless we are able to resell your slot, in which event you will only be charged the $25.00 cancellation fee. If the bus company cancels because of weather conditions or other extraordinary circumstances, all money will be refunded.
  • Insurance and Liability: The Foundation for Jewish Studies does not provide insurance coverage and does not assume any liability. We recommend that you secure your own travel/medical insurance for the duration of the trip.

The bus trip itself is part of the experience. David Epstein will lead a discussion on significant moments in American Jewish history and will involve participants in a discussion about the immigrant experience. We will also have the opportunity to hear a presentation on the bus by Dr. Carmel Chiswick, Research Professor of Economics at George Washington University. Dr. Chiswick was among the first economists to investigate the effects of economics on religion in general and Judaism in particular.

Think about when the first member of your family came to America and bring anecdotes to share. Also, think about whom you consider noteworthy American Jews and why. DVDs on the general topic will be shown on the bus. By the end of the day, you will be exhilarated and exhausted!

We expect this trip to sell out quickly, so please make your reservation as soon as possible using the online registration form below or by calling the Foundation at 301-770-4787. Please contact the Foundation either by phone or at [email protected] if you have any questions.
