As a benefit to our members, The Foundation for Jewish Studies has arranged for discounted tickets for Foundation members to see the Theater J production of Chaim Potok’s book The Chosen at the newly renovated Arena Stage in Washington, DC. The performance will take place on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 3:00 pm on the Fichandler Stage at Arena. We are also arranging for a special speaker to host a discussion after the performance.

The play is based on the much beloved novel of two boys, two fathers, and two very different Jewish communities in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Aaron Posner’s award-winning adaptation introduces us to two passionate, intelligent boys on opposite sides of a baseball game. When Reuven is injured by Danny’s errant pitch, a unique friendship is born. Theater J is offering this 10th anniversary staging of its hit production as Arena Stage’s first local guest company in residence.

We are offering Foundation members tickets for only $20 each, which is 60% off the single ticket price. Because of space limitations, each person may only make reservations for themselves and a guest (two person maximum). All reservations are due by March 1, 2011.
