Rabbi Joshua O. Haberman and Phillip Ratner, co-directors of the Bible Study Center, issued this statement of purpose:
"We envisage the Bible Study Center as a fellowship of learning welcoming all who look to the Bible for a sense of God's presence and believe that Biblical texts can help us cope with the challenges of human existence. Our chief aim is to connect the Bible with contemporary life."

The Bible Study Center will feature courses on all of the 39 books of the Bible, highlight the impact of the Bible on civilization, arrange Bible-in-Art exhibits and guest lectures by Bible scholars and archaeologists.
